Why are LiFePo4 batteries better?

LiFePo4 batteries use lithium iron phosphate as the cathode, while the anode is a graphite-carbon electrode. During charging and discharging, the LFP battery moves between the positive and negative electrodes just like conventional lithium-ion batteries.

The main difference is that Li-ion batteries contain cobalt oxide and manganese oxide, which are toxic, while LiFePo4 uses a non-toxic phosphate material. These batteries have only recently been introduced to the global commercial sector, although they have been around for some time. But why is their popularity and use growing so fast?

Small sizes

The main goal of manufacturers is to improve the user experience, which is why LiFePo4 batteries take up much less space than alternatives on the market. They are up to 70% lighter than conventional lead acid batteries and half the size of lithium manganese oxide batteries.Legality is beneficial in many ways. For example, it helps to save transport costs because the batteries consume less fuel. In addition, their small size means they take up less space when used in a motorized scooter or electric wheelchair.

Safe to use

Of all the lithium batteries available, LiFePo4 batteries are the safest. This is due to their phosphate cathode, which gives them a stable chemistry compared to other cathodes. As a result, the oxygen molecules bind tightly to each other, which eliminates the risk of explosion, as happens with lithium ions.

Ecological

LiFePO4 batteries are rechargeable, which makes them a boon for the environment. In addition, they do not leak and contain uncontaminated materials. In contrast, lead-acid or nickel-oxide lithium batteries pose a significant risk to the environment due to their inherent chemically degradable nature.

Efficiency

Efficiency is a critical consideration when purchasing a battery. LiFePO4 batteries are better than other batteries because:• They last longer than lead acid and other lithium ion batteries. LiFePO4 batteries typically last over ten years.• They are lightweight.

Better performance and reliability.

They last longer than other batteries that have done similar things in their lifetime.• Shorter charge time. Similar to fast charging phones, these batteries are also made in such a way that their charging time is as short as possible.
